A fun and swingin’ journey into the life and music of the incomparable Nat “King” Cole featuring acclaimed actor and singer Keith David. Mr. David has more than 150 film, television and stage roles to his credit, including the Oscar-winning Best Pictures Platoon and Crash, and the science-fiction disaster film, Armageddon.
He has won two Emmy Awards for his voice-over performances in the PBS projects The War and Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson, and received an Emmy nomination for his work on Ken Burns’ documentary Jazz. He was also the voice of Dr. Facilier in Princess and the Frog. He is currently starring in the title role of the OWN series Greenleaf produced by and starring Oprah Winfrey. David received a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Enlisted on Fox. Mr. David also earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance on Broadway in Jelly’s Last Jam.
A lifetime fan of Nat King Cole, Mr. David infuses his love of Mr. Cole into the show, which was written and created by Peter Smith and Robert Perkins. Lush arrangements of Nat’s most famous songs are beautifully placed in the context of American history and interspersed with fascinating narrated anecdotes from Nat’s life, Keith David’s Nat King Cole tribute is fun, informative, and irresistibly swinging!
