The Redlands Bowl Young Artist Competition was established in 1952 by Carolyn S. Pike to encourage young talent and help progress the careers of emerging classical musicians. The winners of the competition each receive a scholarship: $500 for juniors and $1,000 for seniors. The winners also perform in a concert as a part of the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival. Each year the Associates of Redlands Bowl provide the scholarships awarded to the winners. The competition is held each year, the last Sunday in April, at the University of Redlands. The final round is open to the public. (Photo: 2011 winner Miles McAllister accompanied by Stephanie Lovell. Used with permission.)
